Hydration and Health in Schools Initiative: Water Bottle Distribution Project

From March to April 2026, I supported the Barbados Diabetes Foundation with the delivery of its Health and Hydration in Schools Initiative, working alongside project partners Hydrate Caribbean and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The project reached 13 secondary schools across Barbados, distributing more than 10,000 reusable water bottles to students as part of an effort to encourage young people to choose water instead of sugary drinks.

My role included coordinating with project partners and schools, supporting the distribution process and delivering presentations to students about diabetes, sugary drinks and the importance of drinking more water, centered around the campaign message “Choose Water, Choose Life.”

The initiative is continuing with additional activities designed to keep students engaged with the message and encourage healthier choices.
